I think the search is half the fun. I'd love to be able to flip through old catalogs and order all of the retired items, BUT looking for them on eBay and bidding is soooooo much fun too. And...like others have said it is also fun to open up the mailbox to find a "treasure".

I love to look at catalogs and dream, but I also like getting new things. I try to pace myself. One major scene or something every couple of months. After all, I have to keep a large list for my birthday and Christmas!
I'm going to be looking for a bunkbed soon, though!

Well, seeing as how I collect several other types of dolls, and will undoubtfully come across more brands, that having a complete collection would be pretty cool. I could do so much more with my doll photography will all those cool accessories! Though I'd still be making my girls stuff.

I like the thrill of the hunt, and I think it'll be quite awhile before I'm in a position that I have EVERYTHING I want. I'd be happy just to reach my goal of getting Kaya and Josefina so I can be up to date on the Historicals collection. But I do agree that it's like a treasure when you get something in the mail from AG. And though I haven't hit Ebay yet for AG items, I know when I do it will only make the hunt more thrilling!

I'm an inner child eternal....I'm a doll collector.

You always would like to own everything American girl. But then if you could atomatically have everything it wouldn't feel so special...But at the same time you still want the items Ahh!

I definatly feel that way. It's like you wnat everything but then what would be the surprise when something is coming in the mail if there isn't anything you want.

I think half the fun of AG is waiting for it to come in the mail!

This is an interesting question. I definitely think that the anticipation is half the fun. For example, after Christmas, there was still a LOT of AG stuff on my girls' wish lists. I started talking to my husband about making a family trip to Chicago this summer, and I was really looking forward to it.

Well, last week I placed a huge order for my girls' birthdays. It included almost everything that was left on their wish lists. Now all of a sudden I am not that interested in going to Chicago. It's as if the thrill of the "wanting" was drawing me there. And now that the stuff is on its way to me... the trip itself doesn't seem very exciting.

I know exactly how you feel! It gets frusterating looking through catalogues and at other people's pictures and not being able to get all the things you want right away. But then at the same time the more logical side of me remembers that it would be no fun if I had everything I've ever wanted right then, there would be no more fun of saving and waiting and wishing and collecting! So I guess were better off in the end saving up for things and collecting little by little
